Mayor, Council Govern Pullman
Pullman is governed by a mayor-council form of government. The city has an elected mayor with an elected seven-member council and an appointed administrative officer, the city supervisor. The current mayor is Glenn A. Johnson, who doubles as a professor at WSU's Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.
A three-person board of commissioners serves as Whitman County’s legislative authority. The commissioners’ primary duties include levying taxes and managing the budget for county operations, adopting and amending county ordinances, and appointing non-elected county department heads.
